In this text Jesus elaborates on what it looks like to keep His commandments and abide in His love and bear fruit. He does so by issuing a new commandment, and that command is to love one another. Our Lord calls us His friends and gives us four tests or qualities of true friendship. Two signs are on His side and two signs of the friendship are on our side. (John 15:12-17)
