Ron Rasmussen - Preaching Minister

Ron is our genial and thoughtful Senior Minister, always engaging, constructive and true to the spirit of God's Word in his preaching, and attuned to the individuals, not just the crowd, to whom he teaches and serves. His warm heart and friendly personality come through as clearly from the pulpit as they do one-to-one. His talent as a speaker, singer, and musician, creativity in leadership, and effectiveness in administration grow out of a life sincerely devoted to God.

One word that describes him best:

Accessible

Who he considers most influential in his ministry:

My high school, youth minister, Jim Crain. Believed in me when I was young. Started me into actual sermon preparation and delivery at 14.

Who he is when he's not preaching:

Golfer, fisherman, window-rattling gospel bass singer, and embarking on his new career as a grandpa!

Not many people know:

He is not a morning person.

What makes him happy:

His wife's smile; Doug Heffernen (King of Queens); Inspector Clouseau.

What he likes:

Preaching; southern gospel music; lasagna; laughing with his wife Jenny.

What he dislikes:

Disrespect, liver, heavy traffic, humidity without air conditioning.

The things that matter most to him:

His God, his wife Jenny, his children Adam and Erin, and the opportunity to preach for a living.

What he wants people to know:

I don't want to fit the stereotype usually given to pastors. I want people to know that I am more of a real person than that. Mostly, I don't want non-Christian people I first meet to know what I do for a living; it creates too many false barriers.
